The Stewardship of Light

Vessel Care

To honor the craft is to extend the life of the vessel.
Follow these rites to ensure a clean burn and eternal reuse.

The Threshold Burn

The inaugural lighting is a critical rite. Allow the wax to melt completely to the edges of the obsidian vessel. This establishes a "sacred boundary" that prevents tunneling and ensures a flawless, level surface for every future session.

The Wick Rite

Keep the wick trimmed to exactly 1/4 inch before every lighting. This minimizes soot and keeps the flame focused, preserving the purity of the fragrance and the clarity of the vessel.

Safety Rites

Never leave a burning vessel unattended. Place on a heat-resistant surface away from drafty corridors and flammable objects. Limit your session to 4 hours to prevent the vessel from overheating.

Eternal Object

The Rite of
Repurposing

Our obsidian vessels are designed to endure. When only 1/4 inch of wax remains, the candle's life as a source of light ends, but its life as a sacred object begins.

Cleansing the Wax

Freeze the vessel for 3 hours, then gently pop out the remaining wax with a dull wooden tool.

A New Vessel

Wash with warm, soapy water. The obsidian is now ready to hold crystals, flora, or sacred implements on your altar.
